Bibhu 写了:A customer intends to deploy VMWare hypervisor using either the 4GB or 32GB Flash media kit.
Details below.
Customer wants to know whether there will be any performance impact on choosing the 32GB memory card compared to the 4GB memory card. From the description perspective below, the 4GB is of Enterprise Performance class vs the 32GB is of Mainstream class.
Any technology difference in the 4GB vs 32GB memory card?

Ron 写了:For VMware boot from flash HP does not plan to support the 32GB card.
The reasons are that it was found that it get better performance and higher reliability with SLC based devices (currently supported) than MLC devices. In addition, VMware would not take advantage of the additional space.

Dan 写了:And if anyone tells you or your customer that you need 5 or 6GB of space, show them the VMware documentation that says the 4GB Scratch partition is never created when installing to USB/SD media. Doesn’t matter if they have 32GB SD or not.
Thus even the 4GB model is overkill at the moment because ESXi uses less than 2GB when installed on SD/USB.
